Erev Rosh Hashanah Sephardic Seder

As this year’s High Holy Days calls for creativity and experimentation, we are proud to offer a new way to enter into Rosh Hashanah.  For much of the Sephardic Jewish world, especially in Israel, Erev Rosh Hashanah is celebrated through a Seder, much like on Passover.  However, rather than celebrating the Exodus from Egypt, we give thanks for the first fruits of autumn.  This foodie experience ties traditional fall foods to hopes and blessings for a sweet and happy new year.  With many thanks to Taylored Menus, Erev Rosh Hashanah Seder items can be ordered in advance and will be available for pick up at Temple Beth El.  You can choose the Sephardic mezze appetizers featured in the Seder and then compliment with your own dinner, or pick up an entire dinner package for the family.  If you would rather pick up your seder items at the store, here is what you will need:

  • Round Challah
  • Green beans
  • Dates
  • Pomegranates
  • Beets
  • Leeks/Scallions
  • Carrots
  • Pumpkin/gourd
  • Fish (with head)
