Celebrating Couples Married 40+ Years

And Honoring Dr. Barry Meisel As He Retires from His Work as a Mohel

Throughout the Torah, the number 40 is identified as a symbol of significant time.  For instance, the Israelites wander the wilderness for 40 years.  Noah's ark sails through 40 days and nights of rain.  Moses ascends Mount Sinai for 40 days to receive the Torah.  And so, on the shabbat immediately preceding Valentine's Day, we are celebrating couples within our congregation married for 40 or more years.  Please join us for a special blessing for our not-so-newlyweds, as well as a chocolate themed Valentine's Day oneg befitting 40+ years of committed partnership.

We will also take this opportunity to highlight and thank Dr. Barry Meisel, for his many years serving as the mohel of choice for the greater New York area, as Dr. Meisel formally retires.  For 40+ years, Dr. Meisel has brought the sons of our families into the covenant through brit milah, and has supported our congregation's educational programming through the Betty and Jack Bader fund, named after his beloved wife Gloria's parents.  We will salute both Barry and Gloria for all they have done for our congregation and larger community, as well as their many years of loving marriage.

In person at Beth El and offering a live-stream option below

Please note: All in-person attendees must show proof of vaccination for entry and masks must be worn at all times.

Happy Anniversary to our congregants married 40+ years!
