The Book of Numbers features the controversial story of Miriam calling out her brother Moses for marrying a Cushite (Ethiopian) woman.  How do our commentators understand this narrative and what can we learn about the traditional Jewish perspective on heterogamy (marrying outside of the same tribe) and how our community has historically viewed the other?  Is it racist or bigoted to prefer marriage with a fellow Jew?
